ficwip although I did not use all the available questions.

Fanfic Writing — 2025 in ReviewIncluding WIPs, how many fics have you worked on since January 1st? Original fiction counts too!I’ve worked on 21 fics.

- 3 multichapter started in 2025, complete
- 4 multichapter started in 2025, WIP but unpublished
- 2 drabble collections (one complete with 100 drabbles, one just started)
- 6 one-shots, all complete
- 2 prompt-based drabble stories, complete
- 1 “50 sentence” challenge for
1character - 1 chapter for a multi-author story, WIP
How many did you post for other people to read?15 of the above mentioned projects are published.
What’s something NEW that you tried in a fic?Writing from the POV of a cat. It was a fun experiment.
How many fandoms did you write for?99% of my fics are for
Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but I also wrote a ficlet for
Corazón Salvaje (TV, Mexico, 1993).
Did you write for any new fandoms or ships?Yep, it was the first time for me writing about
Corazón Salvaje and the Juan/Mónica ship. It was for a challenge to write for rare fandoms.
What fic meant the most to you to write?
What fic made you feel the happiest to work on?
What fic was the most satisfying to finish?Putting these together because they all make me think of one specific fic:
“Out of Dodge”.
BtVS/Spuffy, alternate reality, road trip, 21 chapters, +50k words, written in about 2-3 months.
My Muse was on a roll and I hadn’t felt so in love with a story for months. The words just poured out of me and it’s a feeling I hope to experience again sometime soon.
What’s the most interesting topic you researched for a fic?Probably trying to figure out possible levels of education and university degrees in Victorian England.
What were your shortest and longest fics?Written in 2025, I suppose.
The shortest was “
Keeper” with 1,368 words.
The longest was “
Out of Dodge” with 50,085 words.
What was on your writing playlist?I never write with background music.
I need as much silence as possible. Music and songs distract me.
Where did you write? Was there a favorite spot?Always my room. Either at my desk or in bed with my tablet.
What’s your favorite title of the year?Probably “
Gone With the Wheel”... which is a play on
Gone With the Wind based on the fact that this prompt-based drabble story featured the use of a wheel tool on Discord to pick a new prompt for each day.
If you had to choose one, what was THE most satisfying writing moment of your year?Definitely May and June when my Muse was on a roll with “
Out of Dodge”.
Did you create fanworks other than fic? Show one off!A story poster that I made for “
Out of Dodge”... Can you tell yet how much I LOVED writing this story?
How many fannish events did you take part in? Things like bangs, exchanges, ship weeks, zines, prompt memes, etc. They all count!Well, there were the 4 annual archive events at
Sunnydale After Dark (for 2025:
“Short & Spuffy” in March,
“Wanderlust” in June,
“Missing Pieces” in September,
“’Tis the Season” in December) and I guess I should count the
“50 Sentences” challenge for
1character. I completed a few
bingo cards too. I can’t think of anything else.
If this were an awards show, who would you thank? My lovely, incomparable beta reader,
Marina.
She’s the best cheerleader and partner any writer could hope for. We’ve been working together since 2023 and my writing has improved so much since then. I owe her a lot!
Happy New Year! 🎉
